about

Absorbed were one of the premier Death Metal bands at both Galician and national levels. The band formed in early 1990 in Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) by Oscar Insua (Vocals, Guitar), Javier Zarco (Bass), Javier Zampa (Guitar) and Abel Sanjuas (Drums). They set up their base in Cangas (Pontevedra).

Soon four tracks were recorded for their first demo promo, a cassette with two themes: "Trapped In A Lifetime" and a very early version of "The Soul Ways". In '92 changes were made as the twin brothers Lino (Drums) and Mario Cordeiro (Guitar) replaced Zampa and Abel, respectively. With a new training approach they went to Valencia's Distortion Madness to record their official first demo: "Unreal Overflows" (1992), which was professionally edited and distributed by Drowned Productions. Six songs - "Intro", "Mournful Chronicles (instrumental)", "Global Surgery", "The Soul Ways", "Engulfed" and "Outro" - who are presented with a drawing of HR Giger.

Regarding the demo, Roel Van Reijmersdal Mortician Magazine says it is: "A devastating production, undoubtedly the best sound I've heard in a Spanish band to date. The sound is crisp and heavy but without losing intensity. All seem to be quite skilled musicians and technicians with their instruments”. In October 1992, the band decided to travel to Barcelona to work at the Metall Weigh Studios with producer Xavier Navarro and record several songs for a 7 "EP that was supposed to be published by the American stamp Seraphic Decay in 1993. 4 songs were recorded: "The Depths of Nowhere" (Intro), "Cybernetical Existence", "Abstract Absurdity" and "Nigrum (In Candida Vertunt)" (Outro). Unfortunately the 7 "EP was never printed and only the top "Cybernetical Existence "was published in the Belgian compilation CD "Sometimes Death Is Better" (Shiver Records, 1993). One year after, the founding member Oscar Insua decided to follow his musical career outside Absorbed, but always keeps great memories of these years and will be very important to him in the future. He was replaced by Fran Pérez and a good friend of the band, José Barros Dismal (later known as The Dismal Pontevedra) for voice work. This training lead to several concerts across Galicia, but Fran soon left the band.

Javier Cordeiro Zarco and brothers began to prepare songs that were recorded for later sharing with two other bands, and Unnatural CD Dismal "Avowals" (Man, 1994), with the help of José Barros on vocal task. This CD contains four songs: "Nitty-Gritty Prepousterous", "Empatic Endeavour", "Towards Sumer We Soar" and "Outer-dimensional Deployment". They recorded at Vigo Fusion Studios with producer Javier Abreu, who also worked with the vocal arrangement. After recording, Fredo,a good friend of the whole band, joined as second guitar player. 1994 was a very productive year for the band as they participated in the prestigious Villa de Bilbao competition and came out as competition winners in the category of Best Rock Group - Metal. The award gives them the opportunity to record a full length album.

In early 1995, José Barros was forced to leave the band due to personal problems, Luis Martinez of the Death Metal band Catatonia, came into the group to help out in the following concerts and the preparation of the songs of the next recording. Later on the band re-entered the Fusion Studios with producer Javier Abreu to record what will be their first full album. José Barros is back in the band now and what will be the recording of "Reverie". This becomes increasingly long and complicated relationship between the group begins to stagnate and even Oscar Insua goes to record 90% of the lead guitars on this record. After many months in the study group dissolved and the recordings, despite being nearly completed, is lost in time .. till the present day when Xtreem Music finished editing the album with all previously recorded material from the side on a double CD titled "Reverie" in July 2013.
