about

Crisphobal (Drums), Rhülk (Voice), Lux (Guitar) and Carlo IV (Guitar) formed Execror in 1996, the embryonic Death Metal act that would mutate later into The Heretic the year after, with new members Nexusseis and Alasthor (Keyboards and Bass). New ideas came, more oriented to European Black Metal and to Avant-garde and thus The Heretic was born, the band released that autumn their "The Book Of Faith" MCD via Black Dragon Records.

A new band re-structure moved Nexusseis to play bass after Alasthor quit. Aphengouza is the new Keyboardist. In 1999 their début album "Fallen From Heaven" was released by Iberian Moon (formerly Black Dragon Records), with a good response from fans and press alike.

In 2000 Lux quit and Phaernan comes in from the Death Metal act Uncreation, and The Heretic gets the stability they needed. With this new line up they began to work on their second album "Chemistry For The Soul", much more original, raw and progressive. Unfortunately, they had no promotion or support, which left this album almost unknown. This was the reason why the band quit from Iberian Moon and decided to look for another label.

Between 2002 and 2003 the band worked on a small tour in Spain whilst they composed and developed some demo’s with new songs that will form their new album, which became more complex, epic and progressive than ever. In early 2004, the band started negotiations with Xtreem Music for the re-issue of the band's 2nd album and then giving it the promotion and distribution that they never had before, whilst they focused on progressing towards their 3rd album that saw light in 2005.
